Ecco was founded by Karl Toosbuy in 1963. Educated from a young age in the craft of shoemaking, Toosbuy and his small family relocated from the vibrant city of Copenhagen to a small village on the western coast of Denmark to satisfy his lifelong aspiration of owning and managing his own business. After many years of hard work and struggle, Ecco had its first major accomplishment while in the late 1970s with the development of the “Joke” shoe.

Building upon this success other ground-breaking designs quickly followed and Ecco swiftly propelled itself into the worldwide brand name it is today. The business continually strives to develop products which keep in-line with its founding ethos. The 4 dots of Ecco continue to be a strong foundation for the brand name and promise to bring customers the very best in quality, comfort, technology and style.

In 1996, Ecco unveiled their 1st golf shoe after their Chief executive officer (and periodic golfer) decided he could design and bring to the market place a superior shoe intended to greatly enhance a player’s experience on the course.
